What To Bring
After scheduling a Video Resumé (VR) appointment, you will receive an e-mail confirming the date and time of your recording session. In this e-mail, you will receive a Video Resumé Consent & Release Form and a Job Seeker Information Form. Please complete these forms and bring them to your appointment, along with your VR materials.
These materials include:
- A current resumé, in Microsoft Word format.
- Copies of your transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) or professional certifications.
- A list of references (minimum of 2 professional and 1 personal).
- Additional information useful to prospective employers, such as a reference letters, registrations, licenses, commendations, awards, project pieces, writing samples, photographs, or any additional materials.
Please send all electronic materials to info@lookfirst.net, in Microsoft Word format only, prior to your appointment. These materials will be included with your Video Resumé.
What To Wear
The LookFirst.net Career Studio is equipped with lighting, sound, and video technology to accurately capture your voice and appearance. The camera will not record anything worn below your waist, so you may dress your lower half comfortably. Above your waist, you should dress to impress. Dress in clothes you would normally wear to an interview. For instance, men should wear pressed shirts and simple ties. Women should wear suit jackets and/or nice shirts or blouses. Avoid wearing white, as it tends to wash out the features of many individuals. If people tell you that you look your best in a particular color or specific article of clothing, choose to wear it to your appointment.
What To Do
Arrive at your scheduled appointment 15 minutes early, as you would a formal interview. This will allow time for you to submit all of your VR materials to the LookFirst.net representative and compose yourself before recording your Video Resumé.
What To Expect
When you arrive at the LookFirst.net Career Studio, a representative will verify your appointment and help guide you through the process of creating a Video Resumé. First, you will upload any materials that will accompany your video, if you have not previously sent them to info@lookfirst.net. Then, you will step inside the Career Studio and be instructed by an electronic Career Coach to privately answer five standardized questions. Remember to relax, smile, and be yourself. Also, remember to sit up straight and focus forward while you are recording. Through the questioning and coaching provided by LookFirst.net, your Video Resumé will showcase your personality, attitude, and work ethic to prospective employers.
